The higher education system in Romania is divided into three cycles: the bachelor's cycle, the master's cycle, and the doctoral cycle. International students are required to take a language proficiency test before applying. IELTS can be waived if the student has completed their previous education in English.

Tuition fees for international students in Romania vary depending on the program and university. On average, they range from EUR 2,000 to EUR 5,000 per year (approximately INR 1.7 lakhs to INR 4.4 lakhs).

The cost of living in Romania is relatively low, with students needing around EUR 400 to EUR 700 per month (approximately INR 35,000 to INR 62,000) for accommodation, food, and other expenses.

International students can work part-time while studying in Romania, but they must obtain a work permit first. The work permit is issued by the Romanian Immigration Office and allows students to work up to 20 hours per week during the academic year and full-time during the summer months.

Students who complete a degree program in Romania can extend their right of temporary residence for studies for 9 months after graduation to search for employment opportunities. If they find a job within the one-year period, they can apply for a work permit and continue working in Romania. After living in Romania for five years, students can apply for permanent residency.
