According to Free Press Journal, 1,17,695 study visas were sponsored to Indian students in one year till June 2022, an increase of 215% compared to 37,396 visas sponsored in 2019, as declared by the British High Commission. Indian students in the UK are primarily enrolled in business, engineering, and computer science courses. And IELTS is not mandatory by many universities, if you can prove you studied in English medium.

The tuition fees for international students range from GBP 10,000 to GBP 38,000 (approximately INR 10 lakhs to INR 38.7 lakhs) per year, depending on the course and university.

The cost of living in the UK can range from GBP 850 to GBP 1,500 (approximately INR 86,000 to INR 15 lakhs) per month, depending on the location and lifestyle. London is generally more expensive than other cities in the UK.

Moreover, the UK offers several opportunities for international students to work while studying, and after graduation. As per the British Council, international students who have successfully completed an undergraduate or master’s degree can apply to stay in the UK for up to two years after their studies. PhD graduates can apply to stay for up to three years.

After completing 5 years of residency in the UK, students can apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR), which is a PR visa.
